Laura Elliott, Camp Director
Laura Elliott has 25 years of professional camp staff experience. Laura began her career in camping when she was in college, directing the horseback-riding program at Camp Coleman 1986 to 1988. She was hired as Camp Coleman’s Director in November of 1988.
Laura has been a member of the American Camp Association (ACA) for 25 years. She has served on ACA’s National Awards Committee and in a variety of positions on Heart of the South Section board. She currently serves as a visitor for ACA’s Camp Accreditation program, a Standards Instructor, and as the Standards Chair for ACA’s Heart of the South Section.
Laura holds current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration, Lifeguard, Basic Water Rescue, and Small Craft Safety certifications. She is a Lead Facilitator for low and high ropes, having completed over 300 hours of training. Laura holds Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) Instructor Certification at Level 4 in both English and Western and serves as a Clinic Instructor for CHA.
