Each year Girl Scouts and their families unite with hundreds of millions of people around the world in turning off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - the last Saturday in March from 8:30pm - 9:30pm. Earth Hour encourages participants to go beyond one hour by deciding to take action every day during the next year to help make a difference.
Troops may also decide to take action on their own, by picking a day of their choice and turning off their lights to help save energy.
