Heather began working for the Girl Scouts in December 2012 as a Volunteer Recruitment Manager serving 36 counties across North-Central Alabama.
Having worked at Children’s Hospital of Alabama as well as The Birmingham Zoo, she has more than 10 years experience recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. Heather has worked closely with teens, college students and adult volunteers both in the development and implementation of programs as well as in providing rewarding volunteer experiences.
She has planned and participated in several special events, fundraisers and community service projects. A love of teaching carried over into her ability to train and educate. From infection control policies, to orientations, to animal handling, she has enjoyed putting her creative abilities to the test in helping others learn. In more recent years she put that skill to use as a dance teacher at Children’s Dance Foundation.
She has a degree in Communications specializing in Public Relations from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her hobbies include travel, reading, photography and dance. Believing that we should contribute time to organizations that provide programs for the community, Heather is a volunteer for National Night Out with the Vestavia Hills Police Department, Alys Stephens Center, and she is an annual volunteer for the Bluff Park Art Show.
Heather lives in Vestavia with her husband and two daughters.
