I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Florence, Alabama in 2003 after graduating high school to attend the University of North Alabama. I always knew I needed a career that would make a difference and help people in some way. I knew that I could not sit behind a desk every day and feel that I was helping people. After looking into Psychology, Education, and Communication, I finally found that a degree in Social Work was what I needed to do.
I graduated from UNA in May, 2008 and immediately began my career in mental health. I worked in this field for a year in North Alabama focusing mainly on substance abuse and behavioral problems in adolescent girls. I moved to Portland, Oregon for two years to work at a residential facility for adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. I moved back to Alabama in 2011 and became involved in tornado recovery. I love going to work every day to do work for underserved populations. I am honored to be a part of ToGetHerThere and am so excited to help the young women in Limestone, Franklin, Marion, and Winston counties gain the resources they need to reach their full potential to become successful leaders in their communities.
