Prior to accepting her role as community task force coordinator, she worked in the school setting for almost 10 years. She has experience in several roles within elementary education including as a special education teacher, tutor working with all school-aged students, an instructional assistant in special education, as a library instructional assistant for Madison County, Huntsville City and Madison City Schools, A to Z In-Home Tutoring and Tutor Doctor, Inc. In these positions, she worked with students who had disabilities including cognitive, emotional or physical disabilities and she gave them support so they could complete their learning successfully. She was responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
Misty enjoys working with families and students to ensure success of all children, and she is a life long learner. She has her Master’s degree in Special Education from Alabama A&M University, and her B.S. in Family & Consumer Sciences, Child & Family Studies from the University of Montevallo.
Misty grew up in Hazel Green, Alabama, and she is a 2000 alumna of Hazel Green High School. She married her husband Duane McAnally in 2011 and they live in Big Cove, Alabama. The couple attends Big Cove Free Holiness Church. Misty enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, helping others and being outdoors.
