The Women of Distinction Awards program is our premier fundraising event for Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama. First celebrated in 1976, the event has grown to include four luncheons within our Council area. Each awards luncheon honors local women who have made significant contributions in their professions and their communities.
Proceeds from the Women of Distinction events directly support the Girl Scouts’ mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place, and your financial support will be used to keep Girl Scouting strong throughout North-Central Alabama.
There are 15,300 Girl Scouts in North-Central Alabama. It costs approximately $325 to provide a whole year’s worth of opportunities and volunteer support for each Girl Scout in our community. Through fundraising events like the Women of Distinction Awards, we can achieve our mission of developing leadership, decision-making skills and commitment to community in this generation of girls. A Woman of Distinction is an outstanding role model for Girl Scouts; she is a leader, a philanthropist, an expert in her field and deserving of recognition for her accomplishments. A selection committee comprised of community leaders and volunteers from throughout our 36-county area will select the honorees.
Nominations for 2012 North Alabama Women of Distinction are open until April 30, 2012!
