Girl Scout Advocacy Day
March 13, 2014 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Program Level: Ambassadors, Brownies, Cadettes, Juniors, Seniors
Girl Scouts from the entire state are invited to visit the Alabama State House for a morning of advocacy. Girls will meet with government leaders, observe lawmaking sessions, deliver cookies, and learn more about the history of our great state. There will be an opportunity for girls to shadow lawmakers as well. There will be a special welcome presentation for Girl Scouts from state officials, as well as a photo op if time permits. Girls are strongly encouraged to wear full uniform, badge or sash to this event. Participants must be at the front of the Alabama State House at 8:30 a.m. sharp, so make plans early enough to park, take a restroom break and be ready to walk inside the State House at 8:30 a.m. After the event troops will be free to explore a number of historical sites on their own. Information about these sites will be provided with registration. Each girl needs to bring two handmade thank you cards to present to legislators when delivering cookies.
A letter from our legislative sponsor requesting that girls be excused from school for the day will be sent with confirmation.
