Scuba Experience and Space Adventure for Girls and Adults
March 1, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Scuba Experience is an exciting way to train for micro gravity like an astronaut by scuba diving in our 24-foot-deep heated Underwater Astronaut Trainer! You will learn basic scuba safety skills, then dive to the bottom to launch a mission while mastering challenges of simulated micro gravity with a certified instructor. No experience is necessary and you will train with nationally-certified scuba instructors. (Girls and adults will be divided into two dive sessions with a maximum of eight divers per session. Each Scuba Experience session is about 2.5 hours long and includes suiting up, rules, training and diving time.) For the other portion of your visit, you will embark on a Space Adventure which includes entrance into the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, Shuttle Park, Rocket Park and simulators including Space Shot, G-Force Accelerator, Mars Mission, Mars Climbing Wall and Discovery Theater. Those not diving can watch through portholes of the dive tank. Registrations are on a first- come, first-serve basis, with up to eight of the dive slots avail- able for registered adult members. All equipment is included, but participants will need to bring a swimsuit, a pair of shorts and a T-shirt to wear in the water. A liability and medical waiver must be completed and submitted by the registration dead- line for a complete registration. Certain restrictions, including asthma and diabetes, may prohibit diving. Go to the Forms and Resources page on our website (girlscoutsnca.org) to get copies of the liability and medical waiver.
