The Underground Railroad had no tracks or train cars, but it moved thousands of slaves from the South to the North. Learn some of the exciting stories of the brave women and men who risked their lives to achieve freedom for themselves and for others. Follow the clues from one “safe” house to the next. Hear the music from this time and learn its significance as you create a craft that will remind you of the methods these courageous individuals used to escape slavery. This program can be tied to the It’s Your Story—Tell It! Journey, and it shows girls the unique roles women have filled in history and how they have escaped the bonds of stereotyping and slavery.
