4 Little Girls (Details)
This patch program was created by Taylor G. Player as part of her Gold Award Project in memory of the Four Little Girls. These girls were killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963, during the civil rights movement in Birmingham, AL. This event was a pivotal moment and made an impact on the community and the entire nation.
Adopt a Grandparent (Details)
The purpose of this patch program is to bridge the gap between different generations. It is designed to pair a Girl Scout with a senior friend for sharing talents and knowledge, as well as exploring the differences in generational attitudes and increasing knowledge of the aging process.
Birmingham is Beautiful (Details)
Birmingham is Beautiful was created by Veronica Walker and it is a patch that focuses on the murals of downtown Birmingham with the purpose to empower young girls by presenting them with an outlet for their emotions through art.

Civic Leadership Challenge (Details)
Civic engagement is the way members of a community work to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow citizens. Positive change is created by being an active participant in community events, volunteering to help neighbors in need, and participating in government decisions through advocacy or elections. By participating in community events, you learn about things that may need to be changed to better serve all community members equitably. You can make a positive impact, even if you can’t vote yet!

When girls have earned this patch, they will have developed an appreciation of the uniqueness and commonalities both of themselves and others and of various cultures in their community and world. Girls will deepen their understanding and respect for people who may be different from them and learn how to better relate to others. This will truly teach them to respect themselves and others and be a sister to every Girl Scout according to our Girl Scout Law.
